Providers

No one organisation can effectively support and encourage the development of a culture of lifelong learning.  We believe that for effective change to take place a partnership approach is essential.

The Providers’ Forum

The providers’ forum is chaired by one of our provider members and has been set up to advise on all aspects of the organisation’s work.  This includes identifying themes for the campaigns and major thematic projects, reviewing and action planning and the development of cross - Scotland working arrangements.

The membership of this group is drawn from each of the local community learning strategy groups who identify appropriate cross-sectoral partners to represent the partnership.

The forum operates three sub groups:
  • The Campaigns Sub Group - Looks at the development of local learning campaigns which support and extend the work of local providers of learning.  This group works with the staff team on identifying key themes, agreeing the publicity materials for each campaign and delivering the operational objectives through the wider partnership.
  • The Policy Sub Group - Concentrates on the development of adult learning policy gaps and leads on the research and consultative processes within the partnership.  They have identified the ten highest priority activities for the partnership’s work over the next five years.
  • The Practice Sub Group – Identifies practice needs and ideas for new thematic projects by co-ordinating the good practice events and conferences we hold.  They have been working to highlight examples of good practice and to support new practice in key areas.
The Forum and groups are always active in seeking new members and with appropriate expertise to advise the Board on future development activities.
