At First Glance: Community based adult learning for new times: Monday 17 May 2010
SALP: 17th May 2010, 15:00PM–24:00PM.
Adult learning is enshrined in the declaration of Human Rights article 26
The conference speakers will explore and compare the two themes identified in the Global Report on Adult Learning prepared for CONFINTEA VI. Adult learning
as a human right and as a means for transforming individuals, communities and societies;
and adult education as a means for economic development.
Although the latter has been more dominant in recent years the speakers will present the case for both sides. Repositioning adult education within lifelong learning requires a shared philosophy of the purposes and benefits of adult learning and delegates will have the opportunity to help direct the new adult learning campaign for 2010.
