Campaigns

Scotland’s Learning Partnership organises and delivers 3 national learning campaigns annually, Adult Learners' Week, the new and improved Family Learning Month and the one for everyone One Hour a Day for Learning. Throughout 2010 the campaign theme is poverty and exclusion.

Many people are excluded from adult learning just because all of the courses are aimed at young people but you couldn't be more wrong.  Log in later this week to hear about Menoleij - fabulous group of older learners who are looking to the future to learn new things every week.

Most Scots don't think that learning will be part of their future-why not?  Could it be that we associate learning with difficult times, getting a job or maybe even poor experiences, or is it that what we’re being offered just doesn’t hit the mark?  That’s why with our partners we are looking to find new ways of getting people involved and getting them into something they enjoy. When you get the bug it’s hard to shake off, but definitely one you’ll want to keep.

Our 3 campaigns are designed to work with our partners to reach out to adults and families who might not otherwise think that learning was for them.  In 2009 the campaigns programme attracted over 92,342 people to local and national events across Scotland. The campaigns work locally to raise awareness of the learning opportunities that exist in each community and to celebrate the achievements of those who have participated in it and to get new people to try something new.

In May 2010 adult learners’ week, 15-21 May, saw a range of events and programmes celebrating the achievements of adults across Scotland.

Each year the campaigns profile is better recognised, better understood and better developed and now with over 7,000 people and organisations working with us in our local communities we know we can get to the parts that others can’t reach.

We know that its success is down to you-so please do give up your time and expertise to help us make 2010 the best there's been

Throughout the year we’ll be hosting a series of ideas days to help you decide what to do, how to do it and who to do it with.
